Another calendar-recognition achievement! Congratulations to WCAAD 13-year-old student Alice Zhang, whose water-saving artwork has been featured in the 2026 calendar jointly published by the Pasadena Water and Power Department and the Metropolitan Water District!

Alice s's piece earned the 1st Place award at the 2025 art contest themed “Being Water Wise is…” This piece excels at reframing environmental advocacy through Gen Z’s visual language, with a composition that carries the striking, collage-like impact of found poetry. The text, scattered in varied sizes, mimics the dynamic splash of water droplets—forming a visual pun with the phrase “Step by Step, Drip by Drip”—so that the core call to conserve water is instantly felt. Unlike traditional posters, it plays more like a viral water-saving manifesto: fragmented yet highly memorable, tailored to capture attention in an era of shortened focus, all while retaining the vibrant, creative energy distinctive to student work.
