More than a hundred WCAAD students have participated in the 46th annual LA county library bookmark contest.

3rd-5th

Every year children from kindergarten through 12th grade are invited to celebrate books, reading, and art by participating in the LA county library bookmark contest. We encourage our students to take active part in this contest and they win top awards every year.

6th-8th

Participants compete in the Kindergarten – Grade 2, Grades 3 – 5, Grades 6 – 8, Grades 9 – 12 categories for a chance to see their designs featured at their local library and across LA County.

3rd-5th

Each library will select a local winner in each grade level category in November. Grand prize winners for each LA County supervisorial district will be selected by the Board of Supervisors in the spring; these 20 winning designs will be made into bookmarks, available across all LA libraries.

3rd-5th

Being creative and being able to learn are lifelong skills and can be used in everyday situations. Reading and drawing have many functions in common: They both develop children’s creativity and free up their imaginations. They both provide children with plenty of good, clean fun.

3rd-5th

The true meaning of the competition extends far beyond winning awards. It lies in the perseverance, focus, and creativity demonstrated by children during their creative process.

3rd-5th

While the number of awards is limited and cannot represent all outstanding works, this does not diminish the brilliance of every child’s creation.

6th-8th

Every child who has participated in the contest is a winner. The true value lies in the skills they have developed through the process: learning how to express themes, arrange compositions, and understand and apply colors. More importantly, their patience and confidence have been strengthened once again. These qualities are the most precious assets for their future artistic journey.
