“The Taste of Belonging” Elyse Lin，Age 17

This work was created as a personal exploration of cultural identity. Elyse wanted to capture the feeling of taking in parts of her culture that don't naturally come to her. By painting herself attempting to swallow a frog, she used the action as a metaphor for how culture can feel difficult to take in but still deeply personal and worth embracing.
