Elyse was part of our children’s program early on and then left for several years only to have that spark of art call her back and joining the portfolio class where she explored various major paths.

Ultimately Industrial design was where she would thrive and is exited for a professional resources in her respected college.

“When I first joined the WCAAD program, I thought art was mainly about skill and talent. Over time, I realized it also requires discipline, patience, and the ability to grow from criticism.” Elyse said, “Although there were times when I doubted myself among so many talented peers, the Academy environment constantly pushed me to improve. Seeing everyone’s dedication inspired me to work harder, and through Omar’s guidance, I also discovered my interest in industrial design and decided to pursue it in college.”

Elyse is very interested on how things work and always is sincere with deconstructing and analyzing the design process and execution. I remember person who is inquisitive and very much in love with knowledge.

In her time here she explored various art practices, but it seems that industrial design seemed to fit the unquenchable thirst for research and knowledge and a deep concern in how to help humanity. Investigating what and how can products help people in considering an innovative and integrative problem as she surveyed various disciplines for a solution that elevates our society.

Through her introspection Elyse channels creativity through, psychology understanding how people think, sustainability of the design and the responsibly, materials science to explore how things are constructs.

She also explores the business side of art and design to connect creativity with real-world impact, engineering to make designs practical, and art to tie everything together.

Elyse loves the interactive Product Design Lab aspects where she hopes to be hands on, and she treats this process as storytelling as a key part of design. “I love how it focuses on wearable technology and teaches us to communicate a product’s purpose and value, not just its function.”

I believe Elyse in correlation to her projects wants to adapt technology into her designs where she explores technical paths, and to use advanced equipment such as high-resolution 3D scanning and digital manufacturing to improve how products fit and feel for the consumer.

In speaking with her on her initial ideas and research she was hypersensitive to a connection on data and empathy, turning precise measurements into a more personal sense of design for the user. User experience and the multisensorial experience is something she focused on with her chair she developed in class that really felt a connection with all other projects she did in class.

When she works, she incorporates inclusive and assistive design showcasing how innovation can serve communities that are often overlooked. She admires how it focuses on designing for the well-being, not just convenience.

One aspect that excites Elyse is the collaborative environment she will be immersed in. This top engineering programs across various engineering disciplines, excites her to be in a learning environment where students who approach problems from completely different angles can give her a more relatable perspective form her peers. This kind of professionalism and is what turns ideas into real innovation for her.

I know her desire and the power to create designs will take her to a smarter future where she will create to make life easier, brighter, and more social connections in creativity, technology, empathy, and innovation for the rest of us.
