September 21 is the International Day of Peace. The purpose of the day is the pursuit of peace as a fundamental human right. It is a United Nations-sanctioned holiday, dedicated to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples. The most common symbols of the day are the dove with an olive branch, an ancient symbol of peace, and the Peace Bell.
