WCAAD Student Emily Wu Admitted by Three Top Colleges with Scholarship Offers Totaling $216,000

Emily Wu will be attending Otis college of Art and Design this Fall with a scholarship of $116,000.

SCAD-Savannah College of Design with a scholarship of $100,000,

Emily Wu, one of the most diligent hard-working students that I’ve had the pleasure to work with has made an impression for those to follow! I find her to be constantly, motivated, and dedicate and eager to learn to improve, captivate an audience and motivate others.

Through various projects she was able to experiment and filter this magical resonance that carries from project to project.

In her animation, she loved to push herself and is never satisfied even though her abilities are now in the top of the class in ranking.

Emily’s strengths come from a solid work ethic, maintaining a GPA: 4.0 in her college course, despite being a college transfer and being very busy with her workload. This is evident in that she has easily developed into a strong respectable leader role in our entertainment design class, and I rely on her to engage the younger students as she often leads the class in discussions, shared information and commencing group critiques. Every time she presented we all new that there would be impressive and numerous works and the passion translated off the screen with er animations and designs.

This proactive learning approach in every class challenges her with diverse courses and projects accumulating in an extensive knowledge, broadened horizons, and cultivating a more open flexible mindset.

In discussing her activities Emily states, “I believe that the knowledge and experiences I've gained provide valuable material for my artistic practice, enabling me to incorporate more diverse perspectives and reflections into my work. Consequently, as my knowledge continues to expand, it enhances my expressive capabilities and creative depth, ultimately allowing me to produce works with a more distinctive personal signature.”

Every year we have an art show for the senior class, and she has been instrumental in organizing. She participated in planning and organizing the WCAAD Class of 2026 Show themed “Feast and Friends.” She collaborated with the team to develop the exhibition concept, layout design, and other creative elements for our graphic poster that was key for our marketing division.

Through exhibiting and artist talks, she conveyed her creative process and artistic philosophy to the audience. Usually quiet and reserved, she demonstrated tp me and everyone that she is articulated, critical and active in her role as a creative and her impact.

Additionally, our academy had a chance to create a 40 ft painting that would be animated for a Hollywood movie screening opening “The Gift “in 2025. By leveraging both team collaboration and individual artistic skills, she completed the creation of diverse scene compositions and transitions between sequences, ensuring the film's narrative and thematic intent were clearly conveyed throughout.

Emily also received a certificate of Chinese folk-dance level 8. (This is a nationally recognized certificate to prove one's dancing level). Emily still studies Chinese folk dance, mainly because of her love, which supports her continuing connection to the arts.

Other where Emily left her influence are at the James S. Thalman Chino Hills Branch Library she was a staff volunteer - Organizing and sorted books and assisted library patrons with locating and choosing books. She participated in a work experience program at university, where she was able to create character concept art for the school's animated series Ollie and Friends, including designing and illustrated merchandise t-shirts, keychains, and pins. Emily contributed to the design of promotional materials for Mt. Sac's major campus event Animation and Game Fest, - from concept development to final artwork. Through teamwork and solid drawing skills, she skillfully integrated characters with event themes to ensure the final work delivered a powerful visual impact. Emily has also participated at Mt. Sac Animation and Game festival where she had an artist booth. Through this public event, she was able to engage in creative exchanges with audiences and fellow creators.
