WCAAD Student Gianna Xun Earned Acceptance to Art Center with Scholarship
Congratulations to Gianna Xun on her acceptance to Art Center College of Design where she will study Illustration and Design. Her scholarship is $60,000.

Gianna’s talents, commitment, dedication and resilience have led her to succeed in all aspects in her journey here, as she is an active problem solver.
From when she first arrived, Gianna has demonstrated adaptability, passion, and a proactive approach.
Gianna wants to be able to attend art college because the creative and demanding surroundings and the creative culture who share the same passion as her. In her time here she has really tested the waters exploring many kinds of medium and maturing here eventually in-depth well researched projects. She has attempted everything from mixed media art to UX projects, graphic Design, to life drawing. Yet, she is very focused and interesting in challenging norms of what art and design can be.
Her academic strengths and experience in studio art, digital media, and illustration design is outstanding. Her Interest in stage design and art design is a goal she would like to pursue as a possible career or as an art director.
There are a lot of symbols recurring in her work as she is critical of how society shifts and how imagery is constantly evolving in visual communication evident in her work.
She has experience in mixed-media, acrylic, oil paint and digital art that I truly felt she earned as she worked hard to get to the level she is at.
Gianna is a great listener and sympathetic. If I call on her in group critiques, she can discern students’ needs with constructive criticism.
I find her to always be independent and able to solve problems on her own, she is idealistic and was able to realize her concepts into sophisticated artworks. I really count on Gianna to set the bar for other students as she always stands above the rest in creating work that is personal and exploring ways to challenge herself as well as presentation.
There was a time that she felt she would not finish and almost quit school altogether. Despite all she was able to refocus, work hard and this adaptability and commitment was noted enabling her to show case her work in our senior show last November with her peers. Additionally giving a wholehearted presentation about her work.
Gianna has a strong understanding of color theory, composition and symbolic narrative. In her extracurricular activities-Gianna demonstrated a strong will to commune with the public and shares her talents to the public. This is evident in her leadership & initiatives-In her senior year she was the leader of the Art Club and at our academy collaborating and gave crucial insight for our senior art show. Work experience and volunteering with her school include assisting with designing the website. These qualities as a creative in art and the ideas produce high quality output.
Her memorable classroom moment are completed high-quality artwork inspiring other students with teachers' support. She loves studying anatomy in life drawing and very experimental using different material in mixed media to explore different ways of art production.
She recently won a California State Assembly award for her efforts in the 49th district presented by Assembly member Mike Fong.
I am glad she rebounded and now is on her way to finish the year and exited to begin her continuing education. I am glad she was not only able to completer out program but to create a network of lifelong friends.
