WCAAD Student Queena Liu Admitted by 9 Colleges with Scholarship Offers Totaling Half Million Dollars

Queena Liu from WCAAD Class 2025 will attend Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) with a $85,000 scholarship.

Humble, efficient, helpful and impressive, is what I would describe Queena Liu. I have worked with Queena Liu ever since she was a freshman. She has found a major (architecture) and leads the path for others to follow. This is most evident in architecture designs, as she pushes her impressive examination of current design issues to improve our overall society.

Her architecture designs are of well created, researched and stable designs. She has worked with CAD, Solid works, Blender, traditional media, Sketchup, Photoshop as well as Procreate.

Her output from the initial ideations to her final presentation demonstrated care and thoughtful consideration on how her designs will impact the world.

This, while she maintained academic excellence demonstrated through her high GPA and achievements in coursework. AP’s/IB’s taken: AP Psychology, AP US History, AP Language and Composition, AP Precalculus, AP Chinese, AP 3D Art and Design, AP Calc AB, AP Environmental Science.

Whenever she senses a student needling help, she is always there to support them. This is what makes her stand out that she will complete her task and have time for others. In our life drawing class, she even took up responsibilities in aiding me organize group chats with the students. Queena had used her time wisely as she managed efficiently through multiple academic and extracurricular responsibilities.

As far as clubs, activities, organizations; Queena was part of the Chinese Culture Club as the club secretary where she assisted in organizing extracurricular Drawing class group chats and helped the teacher assign homework and material lists. She also belonged to the Astronomy Club.  After the pandemic, the school garden had withered, she helped students organized to rebuild and take care of it. At C&T Dadao Foundation she participated in pet adoption, introducing pet information to the public and caring for pets. She participated in activities to protect the environment at the beach. California Volunteers -Served on Green Care Day at the Community Compost Hub at Arcadia Public Library, providing residents with small bins for recycling garbage that can decompose, and applying a protective coating to the wooden containers for decomposing garbage. At the Pasadena Playhouse, she distributed promotional brochures to the arriving audience, as well as ushering the crowd to and exiting playhouse. She worked as a Tutor | Tree of Life. Queena also is influential by providing English lessons to four new immigrant children, engaged them in reading English storybooks to enhance their reading and speaking abilities, and assignments.

I am glad to see such research and quality. She has matured and is someone will act by taking risks and not being afraid to fail. I have gained much respect for her as she is dedicated committed and sincerely a very caring person. I cannot praise her enough and I speak highly of Queena without reservation.
