Stella Wang - The Garden Within
Students Name: Stella Wang
Title: The Garden Within
Work type: Mixed Media
Category: Fine art
Size: 30x24
According to Stella
“The Garden Within explores the idea that you are responsible for cultivating your own life.” The picture conveys a person being consumed by various flowers as we see a play on 2 and 3 dimensional art. The painting appears to suffocate the figure yet these flowers blooming from the figure symbolizes personal growth, shaped by choices we make each day. The blue flower blooming from the figure’s back represents people we choose to surround ourselves with as we carry there essence and influence to help shape us whether the experience is good or bad. This piece was created with oil on canvas, and pieces of cut canvas that is folded into 3-dimensional flower petals, allowing the blooms to physically emerge from the surface that is important for Stella to reinforce the theme of growth coming to life and a celebration of being.
